Each reinforcement contingent uses its home village's troop upgrades and its sender's defense Artifact. Its Hero bonus comes only from its owner's Hero, when that Hero is stationed at the same place, never from another player's Hero. When you reinforce another village you own, regular troops permanently join the host garrison and use its upgrades and Artifact. Chiefs and settlers remain returnable reinforcements owned by the source village, so they keep the source upgrades and Artifact. An accompanying Hero moves to the destination and boosts all your troops defending there.
