Artifacts questions and answers
These are the published Artifacts questions, with the answer under each one.
Can one village hold more than one Artifact?
No. Each village can hold only 1 Artifact, and capturing another Artifact into a village that already holds one will not succeed.
Do Artifacts grant effects while held at their NPC origins?
No. Artifacts at their NPC origins do not grant effects to the NPC owner or its guards. After capture, eligible Artifacts grant effects according to the player's activation limits.
Do large and unique Artifacts work across all of a player's villages?
Yes. A small Artifact affects only the village holding it, while a large or unique Artifact applies across all of the player's villages wherever that Artifact type is relevant. In a village holding a small Artifact of the same type, the small Artifact's effect replaces the large or unique one there; they do not stack.
Does a captured Artifact travel home with the returning troops?
No. The Artifact owner and holding village change as soon as the successful battle is resolved. The Artifact does not wait for the troops' return trip.
Does an Artifact capture appear in the battle report?
Yes. A successful capture records the Artifact type in the battle report and displays its name to the player.
How many Artifacts can a player own?
Normal direct capture allows up to 3 Artifacts in total, with at most 1 large or unique Artifact and only 1 Artifact per village.
Is there a delay before a captured Artifact becomes active?
No. There is no separate activation delay. Eligible Artifacts apply immediately after capture; additional owned Artifacts remain inactive under the activation limit.
What does each Artifact type do?
Type 1 strengthens defense, type 2 makes buildings more resistant to catapults, type 3 speeds troop movement, type 4 strengthens scouting and counter-scouting, type 5 reduces troop wheat consumption, type 6 reduces training time, type 7 boosts resource production, type 8 reduces troop-training costs, and type 9 strengthens attack. Effect strength depends on size, given here as small, large and unique: type 1 adds 75%, 50% or 100% to each defending unit's base defense, and type 9 adds 75%, 50% or 100% to each attacking unit's base attack. Type 2 makes buildings 4, 3 or 5 times as resistant to catapults. Type 3 makes troops move 2, 1.5 or 3 times as fast. Type 4 makes each scout 5, 3 or 10 times as strong. Type 5 lowers troop wheat consumption by 50%, 25% or 50%. Type 6 multiplies training time by 0.5, 0.75 or 0.5. Type 7 adds 75%, 50% or 125% to resource production. Type 8 multiplies troop-training costs by 0.5, 0.75 or 0.5.
When do Artifacts appear in a game world?
Each world configures how many days pass before Artifacts appear. The release is scheduled when the world is created, so the timing can differ between worlds.
Which missions can target a live Artifact origin?
A live Artifact origin accepts Full Attack, Raid, and Scout, but not Reinforce. Its current Tatar garrison contains no counter-scout unit, so scouts return without losses and reveal the full garrison. Spy on resources and troops reports the site's current resources; Spy on strategic buildings and troops reports the Treasury level so you can plan its destruction before direct Hero capture.
