Barbarian Camps questions and answers
These are the published Barbarian Camps questions, with the answer under each one.
Can I attack a Barbarian camp while I am under beginner protection?
Yes, by default. Your beginner protection does not stop you from attacking or raiding Barbarian camps, or scouting them where the camp allows scouting, so you can fight camps from the start. An active server truce does block camp attacks by default. A world can be set up differently, and each camp follows the settings that applied when it appeared.
Do camp battles grant combat points or Hero XP?
Yes. The attacker receives one raw attack point per Barbarian defender killed before the normal world-speed divisor, weekly raiding points for the full resource value converted into Reward Bank items, and normal Hero XP when a participating Hero earns it. Their alliance receives matching attack and raiding points. Camps receive no defender rewards, while conquest, loyalty reduction, building damage, and Artifact capture remain disabled.
How do I find Barbarian Camps?
Open World Discovery and choose the Barbarian category when it is available on your world. You can filter by the camp levels configured for that world, and results are ordered by distance from your active village or selected coordinates. Search is free and does not reveal camp expiry times.
How does a Barbarian Camp appear on the map?
An active camp appears as a Barbarian site with a visible level and matching camp artwork. The map does not reveal its internal owner, population, exact defenders, resources, or expiry time. Expired or invalid sites appear as neutral terrain.
Is there a Barbarian camp near my new village?
When a world has Barbarian camps enabled, joining it places one level-1 camp 2 to 4 tiles from your first village, so your first camp fight is close. It is an ordinary camp with that world's level-1 garrison and loot, and it disappears like any camp when it expires or is cleared. If no free tile is nearby, no starter camp appears, and you can still attack other camps on the map.
What happens if my army arrives after a camp is gone?
When a camp is cleared, every attack, raid, scout, or reinforcement movement still travelling to it immediately becomes a return to its sender instead of continuing to the neutral tile. The return takes the time represented by the distance already travelled. If a movement reaches an expired or removed camp, it returns without combat, loot, or a system-defender report. The conversion happens exactly once.
When do Barbarian Camps start appearing?
Camps begin appearing only after installation is complete and the world is Ready, including its map, system players and villages, and initial jobs, when the world is active and its Barbarian feature is fully configured and enabled. Creating the server record, an installation in progress, or a failed installation produces no camps.
When do I receive loot from a Barbarian Camp?
By default, a camp's resources equal 200% of the basic training cost of the defenders actually rolled for that camp; research and upgrade costs are excluded. If one attack defeats every remaining defender, the camp's full resource pool becomes resource items in the attacker's Reward Bank together with any earned Smart Time. Carry capacity and surviving troops do not limit the award, and the attack report lists the item identities and quantities received. If any defender survives, no resource items are awarded.
When is a Barbarian Camp removed from the map?
A camp is removed immediately when one attack defeats every remaining defender and converts its resources into Reward Bank items, or when its lifetime expires even if troops or resources remain. The tile then returns to its neutral state and the camp disappears from the map.
Which missions can I send to a Barbarian Camp?
• An active, unexpired camp in an enabled world accepts Full Attack and Raid, subject to the camp policy's protection and truce rules. • Scouting can be dispatched only when the camp policy allows it; otherwise dispatch is rejected. • If scouts are already travelling and the camp or scouting policy becomes ineligible before arrival, they return intact without camp combat or intelligence. • Camps do not accept reinforcement, settlement, resource delivery, marketplace trades or Farm List entries.
